We were picked up at our hotel, met with a guide at the train station, took the train with about 25 other folks to Florence. Once there we were introduced to our own Florence guide (making the tour private for our group of 8. which was 2 families with 4 kids aged 13-16) which was great. Guide took us around for several hours then we had about 3 hours of our own time. We met back at the train station (everything is close in Florence...easy walk and easy to meet up with return guide…”

Specifically: She provided little to no commentary and gave the impression that it was her first visit to Venice. Upon arrival, there was confusion with her maps, resulting in wasted time wandering aimlessly. She then left us in the main square with no guidance or recommendations for the day. Unlike other guides we observed, she did not explain the city’s history, art, or architecture. She struggled…”

We then enjoyed delicious Tuscan cuisine at a hidden gem of a trattoria (yes, it appealed to even the pickiest eaters and to locals longing for tastes of home!). Overall, this was the best cultural tour experience of our trip through Itsly.”
